UNDERGROUND Akabane taps two beers, “Uchu IPA” and “Tomarigi,” with a tasting event on April 26
In a post on April 24, UNDERGROUND Craft Beer Akabane announced that it had tapped Uchu Brewing's “Uchu IPA” and karuizawQ's “Tomarigi.” Along with a lineup that makes side-by-side tasting easy at a beer pub near the station, it also previewed a wild ale tasting event on April 26 and a tap takeover in May.
Details of the two taps
In an April 24 post, UNDERGROUND Craft Beer Akabane introduced two draft beers. The first is Uchu Brewing's “Uchu IPA”, a DDH IPA with 7.0% ABV. The other is karuizawQ's “Tomarigi”, a Kolsch-style Ale at 5.0%.
The post presented a light, easy-drinking Kölsch-style beer alongside a classic crowd favorite IPA, giving drinkers a lineup where they could choose their entry point and anchor based on the mood of the day.
The shop's appeal
UNDERGROUND is a beer pub about a 5-minute walk from Akabane Station. On its official site, it says it carries up to 15 draft beers and about 150 bottled beers, and brings in new releases every week. Its strength is the wide selection of craft beers from Japan and abroad, centered on IPAs.
The interior has a Brooklyn-inspired brown-toned look, with counter seats and terrace seating, making it easy to use for solo drinking or small-group tastings. The food lineup is led by its hand-wrapped craft gyoza, and includes house-smoked snacks, nachos, pasta, and fish and chips, offering beer-friendly bites throughout.
Upcoming plans
The post also announced a "Wild Ale Tasting Event" from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 26. In addition, a "VERTERE TTO" is planned for May 22-24.
Since the shop shares tap updates and event news at the same time, there is fun in following what kind of glass you can encounter in Akabane right now. It is the kind of beer pub that makes you want to think not just about which beer to order, but in what order to drink them.
