At Minami Aizu Mountain Brewing / Taproom BeerFridge, the brewery's stronger-alcohol offerings are once again drawing attention. In an Instagram post, the previously introduced "100" and the newly featured "STEEEP" appear side by side, and both are presented as beers you want to take your time with.

`STEEEP` is an Imperial Stout, ABV 10.0%. It is built with five varieties of hops from the UK and the U.S., layering roasty character with dark chocolate and aromas reminiscent of ripe grapes. Malts roasted to different degrees create complexity, while the high alcohol content gives the beer a rich mouthfeel. As the temperature rises a little, the malt sweetness and softness come forward, so it is also fun to follow the changes in the glass. A small amount of the real ale version is also said to be available.

The shop is located within walking distance of Aizu-Tajima Station and is well loved as a brewpub that promotes the craft beer culture of Minami Aizu. In addition to enjoying a house-brewed beer at a relaxed pace, it is also appealing because you can easily sample small pours of the labels that interest you. During the season when the mornings and evenings still feel chilly, a stout with this low center of gravity feels especially fitting. It is very much the kind of place where dropping in for a drink near the station feels natural.
