The Collaboration

Sakurazaka Brewery, based in Naha, Okinawa, introduced a collaboration beer made with the Okinawan sriracha-style sauce Haisai Sauce: RED HOT CHILI PIPARTS.

According to the post, the beer is built around the fresh acidity and umami of tomato, then layered with the sharp heat of Haisai Sauce and pipatsu, a local island pepper. The result is described as a spicy beer that leaves a lingering kick after each sip.

Sakurazaka Brewery is a microbrewery in Naha that also works with Okinawan fruit in its beers. That local approach carries through here as well, with an emphasis on ingredients and flavors rooted in Okinawa.

The brewery also said bottle sales are planned soon. Alongside home drinkers, stores interested in carrying the beer are invited to contact the brewery by DM.

With its mix of heat and acidity, this release stands out as a distinctly local craft beer with a clear point of view.
