At the beer pub `taki` in Sakuragaoka-cho, Shibuya, the Hokkaido & Okinawa Fair is underway. The shop is offering craft beers and dishes from Hokkaido and Okinawa, and this time the tap list consists of three beers.
- WOLFBRAU / Weizen
- Hop Kotan Brewing / kunne-Kunne-
- OKINAWA SANGO BEER / Jasmine Tea Ale
The one drawing particular attention is OKINAWA SANGO BEER's limited-batch `Jasmine Tea Ale`. The style is Kölsch w/Jasmine tea, with ABV 5.0% and IBU 14. It is made by infusing the tea leaves for about four to five hours into a Kölsch base. The post says the beer finishes with the bright aroma and refreshing flavor of jasmine tea, and notes that the steeping time is adjusted batch by batch.
On the Hokkaido side, the lineup includes two beers: Weizen and `kunne-Kunne-`. Weizen is a classic style known for its soft mouthfeel derived from wheat, and when compared with `kunne-Kunne-`, the differences in expression become easier to appreciate even within the same fair. Since taki is an easy beer pub to drop into in Shibuya, being able to enjoy a lineup with this kind of regional character all in one place is a welcome thing.
The fair started on May 20 and runs until sold out. It is a lineup that lets you follow Hokkaido and Okinawa kegs, cans, and food all at once, so it is worth keeping in mind when you are looking for your first drink in Shibuya.
