A limited lager for ROCK's 55th anniversary

On June 9, Yatsugatake Brewery released ROCK 55th ANNIVERSARY LAGER to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Moeginomura ROCK. The brewery says the beer is built on a pilsner base and intentionally threads the number five through the recipe and ingredients in honor of the anniversary.

Five malts, five hops

The recipe uses five malts and five hops. The malt bill includes German malts such as Durst and Weyermann® Munich, aiming for the richness and drinkability of an all-malt beer, along with a light toastiness and more body. All five hops are added during the boil, including local Hokuto-grown varieties such as Kaikogane and Kiyosato Cascade, plus German hop varieties, to deliver what the brewery describes as its boldest bitterness yet at 55 IBU, while still finishing clean.

Brewing in Kiyosato

Yatsugatake Brewery is located in Kiyosato, Hokuto, Yamanashi, at an altitude of 1,230 meters. Since 1997, it has brewed in an environment shaped by the clear water of the Yatsugatake foothills and a malt-centric approach, with a focus on German-style beers under the Yatsugatake Beer Touchdown line.

A beer that reflects the venue's history

This limited lager is designed as a drinkable marker of a major milestone for ROCK. The label features a yagasuri pattern and a checkered-flag image, and the brewery is also offering a limited 10-beer set that includes this release. It is a straightforward anniversary beer, but one that also points back to the long history of ROCK and the brewery beside it.
