BUZZED LAMB BREWING in Yanaka, Taito City, Tokyo, announced a batch of new beers on Instagram. The lineup visible in the post consists of the Hazy IPA "Aries no Tokushou," the Belgian Special-style "Lycopitan B," and the brown session ale "Decorations Aren't All, Malt Is."

Looking at each beer's character, it is clear that this brewery has distinctly separated its flavor directions. "Aries no Tokushou" is built around elixir-type hops, layered with citrus notes from Citra, creating a beer that balances tropical character with easy drinkability. "Lycopitan B" retains malt sweetness while using tomato juice and cardamom to keep the finish light, resulting in a beer designed with food pairing in mind. "Decorations Aren't All, Malt Is" is presented as a calm, easy-drinking beer that foregrounds a malt character reminiscent of bread and biscuits.

BUZZED LAMB BREWING is a microbrewery operated by the long-established liquor retailer Isego Honten. It makes use of an old house that blends into Yanaka's historic streetscape, with a brewery and taproom housed together on the premises. The new beer names also show a playful streak, and the names themselves help expand the image of the flavors.

The character of Yanaka, the close proximity to the brewing floor, and the thoughtfully individual recipe design. That combination makes BUZZED LAMB BREWING's new beers more than just a standard new product announcement. If you drink them in the taproom, it seems there would be plenty of enjoyment in comparing the three side by side, including how the aromas open up and how the flavors change with temperature.
