A distinctive new tap at HOP MAN
HOP MAN, a beer pub in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, has announced a new keg of Curious from Passific Brewing. The tap adds a highly unconventional sour ale featuring cucumber and chili peppers to the pub’s craft beer lineup.
Curious is built around acidity from lactic fermentation and uses a generous amount of cucumber together with chili peppers. Its aroma is described as fresh and melon-like from the cucumber, complemented by the green, vegetal notes of jalapeño and green habanero. A crisp bitterness adds another layer to the profile.
The finish is brought together by a soft lactic acidity. Although the ingredient combination is unusual, the beer is presented as balanced and easy to explore, with fresh cucumber character, gentle sourness, and a spicy edge appearing in succession.
It can be enjoyed on its own as a tasting beer, or paired with light food to highlight the interaction between acidity and spice. As the beer warms, drinkers may find it interesting to follow how the cucumber aroma, chili character, and tart finish develop.
HOP MAN is located on the second floor of Sun Raizu Shonan in Chigasaki’s Jummaizaka district. Tap availability may change, so visitors should check the pub’s latest tap list or in-store information before ordering.
