Bringing Higashimatsushima to Tsukuba

Beer Base Campanella, also known as Daichi to Umi no Campanella Brewing, will join Tsukuba Craft Beer Fest 2026 for the first time from October 16 to 18. In its Instagram post, the brewery says it uses 100% malt from "Kibo no Oomugi," barley grown by the community on fields that were de-salted after tsunami damage. The post also notes that the founder started the brewery after working in companies and serving in a regional revitalization volunteer role, and that the lineup draws on names inspired by Greek mythology.

The featured beer for the event is "Higashimatsushima Dortmunda Demeter," a Dortmund-style lager brewed entirely with malt from Kibo no Oomugi. The brewery describes it as a beer that highlights a rich malt character. The recommended food pairing is sausage, which fits the beer’s restrained, malt-forward profile.

The festival will be held at Tsukuba Center Square, with free admission. Visitors can buy a reusable cup at the venue or bring their own glass. Beer and food are purchased directly from each booth. Beer Base Campanella began brewing in Higashimatsushima in January 2025, with a focus on local primary-industry ingredients. Its debut at the festival puts a distinctly local Miyagi story in front of a wider audience.
