Beer Base Campanella has highlighted “Shiogama-sama: Moonlight of the Gods,” an autumn illumination event held in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the grounds of Shiwahiko Shrine, Shiogama Shrine, and O-kama Shrine. Bamboo candles and LED candles will illuminate the 202-step approach and shrine grounds, while buildings including the worship hall will also be lit up. Traditional performances such as gagaku, kagura, and miko-mai are planned.
Related activities in the surrounding Monzenmachi area will begin from 3:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy Shiogama oden, explore the historic district through retro-themed programs, and take part in kimono and haori rentals. From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the “Strolling Shiogama Autumn Sake Brewery Tour” is also scheduled, connecting three breweries: Saura, the producer of Urakasumi; Abekan; and Ichinokura.
Beer Base Campanella is operated by Daichi to Umi no Campanella Brewing in Higashi-Matsushima. The brewery’s message, “Craft beer brings people together,” reflects its focus on connecting visitors with the region through beer.
