A Coastal Weizen Made for Sharing

Kaneku Brewery has released Slow Days Wheat, a collaboration beer created with Sakehan Sawazu, a restaurant in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. The beer is presented as a “Coastal Weizen,” a house interpretation of the Weizen style. It is sold in 330 ml bottles for ¥660 including tax.

The beer has an alcohol content of 5.0%. Its listed ingredients are malt produced in Germany, hops, and carrageenan, with a malt usage rate of at least 50%. Refrigerated storage is required.

A Softer Take on Weizen Aromatics

Weizen is known for its smooth wheat character and banana-like aromas produced by the yeast. Kaneku Brewery’s standard Weizen is similarly described as a soft, low-bitterness beer with fruity yeast-derived notes.

Slow Days Wheat takes a slightly different direction. The banana character is intentionally restrained, while a gentle orange aroma emerges in the finish. The result is designed to be easy to drink, with a refreshing palate and a citrus-leaning impression that suits a toast with friends.

The brewery describes the beer as a choice for moments when everyone gathers to raise a glass. Its approachable profile should work well as an opening beer, alongside a meal, or as a bottle to share among several drinkers.

From Hachinohe’s Nango District

Kaneku Brewery operates a small brewery in Nango, Hachinohe, Aomori. The brewery says its origins lie in the founders’ encounter with craft beer in Germany and their desire to enjoy a broad range of distinctive beers in their hometown.

Today, Kaneku produces beers including Hazy IPA, Golden Lite Ale, and Weizen, while continuing to develop limited releases. Slow Days Wheat adds a cross-regional collaboration to that lineup, connecting Kaneku’s Hachinohe brewery with Sakehan Sawazu in Fujisawa.

The beer went on sale on August 6, 2026, and is available through Kaneku Brewery’s official online store.
