Lineup for May 9

At the beer pub Marumugi in Arakicho, Shinjuku Ward, the rotating tap lineup for May 9 was announced. Prices are large size 1,200 yen+α and small size 900 yen+α. Five distinct beers are on offer, ranging from citrusy IPAs to a pilsner that puts malt flavor front and center.

- Marihana / COEDO (Saitama) 4.3%
- A light session IPA with a refreshing citrus aroma.
- Fruit Basket IPA Citra Ver. / Romantchikku Mura Craft Brewery (Tochigi) 6.0% +100 yen
- A straightforward, no-nonsense IPA built around Citra.
- Mugi no Manimani / Ise Kadoya Beer (Mie) 5.0%
- Aromatic, crisp, and easy to drink. This time it is being introduced as a German Pilsner.
- Fruits Full Life Citrus IPA / Baird Brewing (Shizuoka) 7.0% +100 yen
- A fuller-bodied IPA with bursting citrus character.
- AGE AGE SAME AGE / Repubrew (Shizuoka) 5.0% +100 yen
- A light smoky lager that overturns the impression of a dark beer.

About the Bar

Marumugi is a beer bar in Arakicho, a short walk from Yotsuya-Sanchome Station. It’s a small place, and part of the fun is following the ever-changing tap lineup from day to day. As with this selection, its appeal lies in being able to compare different styles while still having staple favorite breweries represented.

Note that the bar has been closed on Tuesdays and public holidays since December 5, 2024. It’s probably best to check the business days before visiting.
