Today’s lineup

Marumugi, a small beer pub in Arakicho, Shinjuku, shared its craft beer menu for June 15. Prices are listed at large 1,200 yen plus tax / small 900 yen plus tax. The selection brings together five beers with clearly different profiles, from easy-drinking classics to hop-forward and dark styles.

- Pilsner / Mojiko Retro Beer (Fukuoka) 5.0%
- Introduced as a crisp, refreshing pilsner with a sharp bitterness.
- Sono Juu / NO.10 IPA / Shiga Kogen Beer (Nagano) 7.5% +100 yen
- A bold IPA that is also described as light on its feet, despite the stronger alcohol level.
- Hoppy Weizen / Minoh Beer (Osaka) 5.0% +100 yen
- A fragrant Weizen with a fruity aroma and a more expressive, aromatic profile.
- Shizuoka Summer Mikan Ale / Baird Brewing (Shizuoka) 5.0% +100 yen
- A fruit ale brewed with summer mikan, offering sweet-tart citrus character and bright acidity.
- Third Wave Porter / VECTOR BEER (Tokyo) 4.0% +100 yen
- A porter described as "refreshing" despite its dark color, with coffee-like notes likely to stand out.

Marumugi is a compact beer bar located on the second floor of Ichibankan Building in Arakicho. It opened in 2011 and operates from 18:00 to 24:00. Since December 5, 2024, the bar has been closed on Tuesdays and public holidays. The list reads like a concise snapshot of the kind of place Marumugi is: a neighborhood beer bar where drinkers can move from a clean pilsner to a citrus ale or a dark porter without leaving the room.

The post also notes a separate event scheduled for Saturday, July 4. It will feature an original beer produced by storyteller Kanda Hinomaru, paired with a performance of "Yotsuya Kaidan" and a coffee-scented special beer. Even on an ordinary tap-list day, Marumugi continues to pair beer service with ideas that extend beyond the glass.
