A limited addition to the Tsunagu Beer series

Baeren Brewery, based in Shizukuishi Town, Iwate Prefecture, has released Tsunagu Beer Amber Lager. It joins the brewery's Tsunagu Beer series, which is brewed with 100% ingredients grown in Iwate and now gains its first limited-edition variant.

The beer stands out first and foremost for its color. Poured into a glass, it shows a beautiful reddish-amber hue. According to the brewery, amber malt brings a gentle roasted aroma, soft sweetness, and a clean finish. The result is an amber lager that aims to balance visual appeal with a restrained, drinkable flavor profile.

Built for the lingering heat of late summer

Baeren says the beer was designed to be enjoyable even in the warm days that remain later in the season. That means a lager character with a refreshing finish, while still giving enough malt depth to feel substantial.

The style is listed as amber lager, with only malt and hops used as ingredients. Alcohol content is 5.0%. Rather than pushing strong bitterness or overt aroma, the beer seems focused on the interplay of color, malt character, and a crisp finish.

A local approach that defines Baeren

Baeren has built a strong identity around beer rooted in Iwate. From core beers such as Classic and Schwarz to seasonal and regional releases, the brewery has consistently emphasized local character and careful lager brewing.

In that context, Amber Lager feels like a natural fit. It keeps the Tsunagu Beer concept intact while expanding the range through amber malt and a warmer malt expression. For drinkers, it should work both as a contemplative standalone beer and as a companion to food.

The release is scheduled for shipment from August 3. For anyone interested in how Iwate ingredients can shape a lager, this limited beer is one to watch.
