Highbury -The Cave of Beer- Holds "Onmenburoi" Tasting Event on April 18 and 19
The beer pub Highbury -The Cave of Beer- in Yokohama’s Sakuragicho announced a weekend tasting event for comparing smoked and pre-smoked versions on April 18 and 19. Baeren Mai Bock and Onmenburoi will be tapped at the same time, with a comparison smoke set and a limited serving of Hita Black Label also available.
Highbury -The Cave of Beer- announced a weekend event to be held on April 18 and 19 under the slogan, "Dramatic Before and After!?" The stars are "Baeren Mai Bock" before smoking and "Onmenburoi" after smoking. It is a direct expression of the bar’s signature enjoyment: tasting the "before and after" side by side.
The highlight this time is not just the introduction of a new release, but the fact that the lineup has been carefully arranged so guests can compare how the flavor changes. The popular "Smoke 3-item assortment (duck, mackerel, cheese)" also has a "non-smoked" 3-item version made with the same ingredients, and orders combining Onmenburoi with the smoked 3-item set, or Baeren Mai Bock with the NOT-smoked 3-item set, receive 100 yen off. Pairing the beer with the snacks makes it easier to notice how the smoke aroma and malt character come through.
The post also mentions that, as a previous opening act, the shop once offered a comparison between "Baeren Classic (before smoking)" and "Lemembroy (after smoking)," and this event is a continuation of that flow. In addition, due to equipment constraints, "PLZENSKY PRAZDROJ (Urquell)" will be unavailable, while "Hita Brewery Black Label" will be served in a limited 40L quantity. In the Highbury space, with its dedication to a pewter-pipe server and British-style pouring, it looks set to be a weekend where beer lovers can enjoy the Yokohama and Momijizaka beer experience even more deeply.
