TYPHINA

Nara Brewing has released the first-shipment retailer list for its keller pils "TYPHINA," a collaboration with VERTERE, the brewery in Okutama, Tokyo. It has an ABV of 5.5%, an IBU of 17, and uses Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Merkur hops, along with Pilsner Malt and Vienna Malt. Compared with a regular pilsner, the carbonation is toned down so that the sweetness of the malt and the delicate aroma of the hops can be felt more clearly.

When poured into a glass, it has a pale golden color with a slight haze. A honey-like aroma rises from it, and the mouthfeel is smooth. The finish leaves behind a subtle bitterness characteristic of an unfiltered beer and a refreshing hop presence, creating a drinkability that makes you want another glass. Rather than pushing bold flavors, it is a collaboration that brings out individuality within a well-balanced lager framework.

First Shipment Retailers

As of April 18, the first shipment is being sent only to liquor retailers. The listed areas span from Tohoku to Kyushu, and in Tokyo the lineup includes Caliquors Tokyo, Sanity, TDM 1874 Shimokitazawa, threefeet Tokyo, and Shibuya Tokyu Food Show. In Nara Prefecture, the retailers listed include Momotaro, Noto to Happo Zen, Kintetsu Department Store Nara Store Yamatoji, Nishinokyo Jizake-dokoro Kitora, Higashikawa Saketen, Tategami Saketen, and Sake no Abetaya.

Nara Brewing is based in Kitanosho Nishimachi, Nara City, and has previously offered a wide range of styles, from core beers to collaborations. This time, as a joint creation with VERTERE, the background is also intriguing because it started from the impression of a keller pils they drank in Germany. Note that VERTERE also sells a different-style beer under the same name.
