A Special Kölsch Celebrating Hansharo Beer's 29th Anniversary

Hansharo Beer, based in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture, has announced "New World Kölsch HOPPY" as its 29th anniversary beer. Built on the brewery's signature Kölsch, this special version layers in a pronounced hop aroma and serves as a limited brew marking the brewery's milestone.

This beer is crafted as a Hoppy Kölsch Style. It uses German Pilsner malt to ensure a crisp malt framework. On top of that, a combination of American hops such as Amarillo Cryo, Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, and Krush brings a fruity, refreshing aroma to the forefront.

In the tasting notes, the appearance is a radiant lemon yellow. The aroma centers on yellow citrus notes reminiscent of lemon and grapefruit, along with the malty aroma characteristic of Kölsch. The mouthfeel is clean, and as you keep drinking, impressions of apple and pineapple build, creating an even more floral expression. Another hallmark is the Kölsch-derived sharp finish, plus the clean aftertaste brought on by cold fermentation and maturation.

Alcohol content is 5.0%, and IBU is 18. It will be available in 350 ml cans and 15 L kegs. As a pairing, baguette topped with hot shirasu ajillo is recommended. For this commemorative brew marking a local brewery's milestone in Izu, layering hop character onto a classic style, this beer seems like a clear snapshot of where Hansharo Beer stands today.
