Kakuuchi Asakura features Parrotdog and refreshes its five-tap lineup
Kakuuchi Asakura in Kyoto’s Nishijin area is highlighting New Zealand’s Parrotdog as this week’s Pick up Brewery. The bar’s five draft taps also include beers from Farmentry, Yellow Beer Works, Inkhorn Brewing, CRAFT BEER BASE, and HINOBREWING.
Highlights
Kakuuchi Asakura, a beer pub in Kyoto’s Kamigyo ward, is housed in a renovated 100-year-old machiya. The venue uses a custom five-tap draft system and serves both craft beer and sake in a casual standing-bar format.
This week’s Instagram post names New Zealand’s PARROTDOG as the Pick up Brewery, with no opening fee. The featured beers are Bitterbitch, Thunderbird, LAGER, and Birdseye, a lineup built around bright hops and an easy-drinking profile.
Draft lineup
The current tap list is equally varied: Zhendan Saison from Farmentry, raiNing 僕のパンダのSesIPA from Yellow Beer Works, Flocking from Inkhorn Brewing, North west Pale Ale from CRAFT BEER BASE, and Gamou Helles from HINOBREWING. It moves from saison to Italian pilsner, pale ale, and helles, so there is plenty to choose from.
Growlers are welcome, and the shop also offers beer in bottles and cans for on-site tasting or take-away. That makes Kakuuchi Asakura a flexible stop for anyone looking to compare styles, try something new, or simply start a beer crawl in Nishijin.
