September 28 lineup
Beer pub Marumugi, located in Arakicho, Shinjuku, has announced five craft beers for September 28. Large pours are priced at ¥1,200 and small pours at ¥900, with a ¥100 surcharge on selected beers.
From Iwate’s Baeren Brewery comes Baeren Classic, a 6.0% lager described as a well-balanced combination of malt richness and bitterness. It is a straightforward choice for drinkers looking for a traditional, food-friendly beer.
IPA American Style from Shonan Beer is also 6.0%. As its description suggests, hops take center stage in this classic American-style IPA, making it a natural pick for fans of pronounced hop flavor and bitterness.
Nagano brewery Shinshu OH!LA!HO BEER contributes CAPTAIN CROW EXTRA PALE ALE, at 5.0%. The beer is presented with an especially bold hop-aroma profile, offering a hop-focused experience in a lighter pale ale format.
The 6.0% Maple Amber Ale from Tochigi’s Romantic Village Craft Brewery brings sweet, toasted notes and a rich amber character. It is available with a ¥100 surcharge and should appeal to drinkers who prefer deeper malt flavors.
The other surcharge beer is Baby Blonde Miyama from Shiga Kogen Beer. At 5.0%, it is described as light yet distinctly hoppy—a beer suited to an easy second pour.
Marumugi is a small beer bar on the second floor of Ichibankan Building in Arakicho, about a three-minute walk from Yotsuya-sanchome Station. With five beers spanning lager, IPA, pale ale, amber ale and blonde ale, the lineup is well suited to a measured tasting session, starting with small pours before committing to a favorite.
The pub has also announced a price revision effective October 1: ¥1,300 for large pours and ¥1,000 for small pours. It is closed on Tuesdays and public holidays, so checking the official blog before visiting is recommended.
