Two releases in Aizutajima

Taproom BeerFridge, the brewpub run by Minamiaizu Mountain Brewing in Aizutajima, is introducing two beers this week: 'Anbesuppe' and 'MILLS.' The post highlights both taproom service and takeaway formats.

Anbesuppe

'Anbesuppe' is a Sour Ale with Ume at 4.5% ABV. The brewery says it used Takada plums from @grapes_hutte again this year, harvesting them after letting them fully ripen on the tree. Part of the fruit was salted and added during fermentation, while the rest was steeped in lagering beer for about three weeks. The aroma leans toward plum, early-picked peach, and lemon, while the palate brings lactic acidity, citric acidity, saltiness, and a touch of bitterness. The result is a juicy, plum-forward beer.

MILLS

'MILLS' is a Helles at 5.0% ABV. It pours a bright, pale gold and uses two German hop varieties. The brewery describes a faint apple-like aroma, a tighter body than the previous batch, and more malt fullness, flavor, and sweetness, with a very clean finish. It sounds well suited to a larger glass, mug, or stein.

The pairing reflects the brewery's style well: one beer built around bright, salty-sour plum character, and the other centered on clean malt and a crisp lager profile. The post even suggests finishing work with Anbesuppe for salt and citric acid, then following it with MILLS to quench your thirst.
