What kind of brewery is Sakai Green Museum Harvest Hill?
Hop Bro
When you hear Harvest Hill, you probably picture a petting zoo or an agricultural park with flower fields, right? But actually, there’s a craft beer brewery inside the park, and they really do brew on site.
Mugi
What? They make beer at an agricultural park?
Hop Bro
They brew four kinds: Pilsner, Muenchner, Rye Lager, and a white ale called "Harvest Aroma." What’s more, the Pilsner won a bronze medal at the International Beer Cup 2022, and the Weizen won a bronze medal at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2024.

Beer from an agricultural park won awards in competitions!? That’s way more impressive than I expected!

And the commemorative beer they released for the park’s 20th anniversary is interesting too. It uses 100% malt made from two-row barley grown in Sakai, plus "Senboku Lemon," a branded lemon from the local Senboku New Town area.
Mugi
Local barley and local lemons! That’s seriously farm-to-table.
Hop Bro
What’s more, for this commemorative beer they introduced decoction brewing for the first time, a labor-intensive boiling process that brings out the malt’s richness and the lemon’s refreshing character. It was made possible through cooperation between the Sakai Barley Growers Association and a regional project called "Senboku Lemon Town Story."

So it’s a beer made together with local farmers. It really has a story behind it.
Hop Bro
The regular lineup has its own character too. Muenchner is a reddish-brown beer with restrained bitterness and a fruity flavor, while Rye Lager uses rye and has a rich body with a strong grain aroma. It really shows the ingredients that only an agricultural park could offer.

Being able to drink freshly brewed beer after playing around in the park sounds amazing! I want to go!
