Hiro's Brewery

Hiro's Brewery is, honestly, an incredibly unusual brewery. Its parent company is HIRO-ENG Co., Ltd., an electrical contracting and control-panel company.

Exactly. And they have a track record of building craft beer factories all over Japan. They built many breweries for others, and in 2024 they finally started brewing themselves.

That's right. They have a brewery on their own property in the Kusube area of Sakai's Nishi Ward, and their flagship beer is "Kofun." Since Sakai is home to the Mozu Kofun Group, that makes perfect sense. It's a happoshu brewed with 100% domestic barley, and it has also been certified as an "Osaka Mon" product by Osaka Prefecture.

You can buy it at the TAKUMI SHOP in Sakai Traditional Crafts Hall. They also have another label called "Nishi-Awa," inspired by Tokushima, and one called "Sennan." What stands out is that they develop beers named after different regions.

They're also a member of the Osaka Brewers Association, and they take part in events with a kitchen truck. The story of a company that builds facilities and then started brewing itself is pretty rare even in the craft beer world.
