Joint Brewing

Joynt Brewing is a brewery along Orange Beach in Ito, run by an American named Brian and his Japanese wife.

Brian learned brewing techniques at a brewery in California, opened the taproom in July 2022, and started in-house brewing in 2023. The name “Joynt” comes from Brian’s grandmother Mary’s maiden name. She was born in South Dakota in the 1930s and later moved to Sacramento.

And the beers have a unique twist: all the brand names are taken from lines in Western films. The menu is handwritten on a blackboard, so if you love movies, it’s fun to guess the references.

They pour styles like Brut IPA, which is dry and crisp; NE IPA, which is fruity and slightly hazy; and also Double IPA and Brown Ale, with seven taps offering a wide variety at all times. You can really feel Brian’s California training in the beer.

What’s more, the place hosts some really distinctive events. On the last Wednesday of every month, “Salsa on Tap” brings together beer, tacos, and Latin music. They also host “India Experience Night,” inviting local Indian residents for Indian food and conversation, and they sometimes even throw together events like kimono x beer x music on short notice.

Exactly. In summer they open from 10 a.m., and you can enjoy beer while feeling Ito’s sea breeze and looking out over the glass-walled brewery. Brian and his wife have really rooted themselves in the city of Ito and are connecting people through beer. That’s what makes it so great.
