TPM BREWING is a microbrewery in Nishikatsura Town at the foot of Mount Fuji, and the brewer's background is fascinating. It's run by a photographer named Satoshi Terada.

A photographer making beer!? That's a completely different world, isn't it?

Originally from Shizuoka, he worked at a creative cuisine restaurant in his early twenties. He got hooked on photography after being asked to shoot the menu, then went on to study photography at Tokyo Zokei University. After graduating, he kept creating work while working as a university assistant.

Food -> photography -> beer...? How did he end up making beer?
Hop Bro
He worked as a community revitalization volunteer in Nishikatsura Town and opened a cafe gallery called "Spring gallery." Beer lovers started gathering there, and as they talked, it naturally became, "I want to try brewing it myself."
Mugi
Wow! It was born from the connections with the people who gathered at the cafe.

"TPM" stands for Three Peaks Mountain, the symbol of Nishikatsura Town, and they use spring water from Mount Fuji as their brewing water. Their regular lineup consists of three types: NE IPA, IPA, and STOUT, and the beers are known for their light, mellow flavor.

Beer brewed with Mount Fuji spring water! Just that sounds delicious!

The brewery is in a renovated old house near Nishikatsura Elementary School, and the gallery and brewery are integrated into one space. It's also offered as a Nishikatsura Town hometown tax return gift, so it's clearly rooted in the local community.

It's lovely that you can drink beer in a photo gallery. Hearing that they brew while being supported by the people of the town and raising a child there makes me feel warm inside...!

Since Nishikatsura Town is accessible via the Fujikyu Railway Line, it's not too hard to get there from Tokyo. I'd love for you to try this beer made by a photographer with Mount Fuji's water.

See the gallery, drink beer, and look at Mount Fuji... that's the perfect day off plan! I'm going, I'm going!
