Scent's Brewing

Next is Scent's Brewing. In English, it's written "Scent's brewing," and it's a brewery in Nagasaka-cho, Hokuto City.

That's how you can read it. And here's the thing: the operating company is called "Hokuto Hops." Just from the name, you can tell they're serious about hops, right?

Hokuto City is actually one of the birthplaces of hop cultivation in Japan, and even now hop farmers are active in the area. The variety called "Kaitaku" has been grown there for a long time. A brewery in Hokuto calling itself "Hokuto Hops" really shows a strong commitment to locally grown hops, doesn't it?

They only recently obtained their brewing license, so this is a brand-new brewery. Set in an environment with the cool climate of the southern foot of Yatsugatake and excellent water, it'll be exciting to see what kind of beer they put out from here on.

Exactly. You don't get many chances to taste a brewery's very first batch. I'm curious to see how the philosophy behind the name "Scent" will come through in the beer.
