Vector Beer Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station Store is the directly operated shop of our in-house brewery, Vector Brewing. It all started in 2013 when they opened a beer restaurant in Shinjuku Gyoen, and the following year they built VECTOR BEER FACTORY next door and began brewing.

So they brew their own beer and serve it themselves. Is the brewery in Shinjuku?

At first they brewed in Shinjuku, but 7,000 liters a year wasn't enough, so they moved the brewery to Asakusabashi, a town known for making things. Head brewer Tomoya Kimizui came from Sankt Gallen in Atsugi. A person who honed his skills at a long-established craft beer maker moved to Raina Co., Ltd., and now crafts Vector's flavor.

From Sankt Gallen! That sounds promising. What's the flagship beer?

Their signature beer is Nekopanchi. Cute name, right? But the concept is interesting: "cute like a cat punch, but a little painful," with that "painful" idea turned into "bitter" in a distinctive bitterness design. They use wheat malt, so the mouthfeel is gentle, but a solid bitterness comes through.

What is that! The name and the concept are both adorable! I want to try it!

And get this: they built a new brewery in Yorii, Saitama, and it was a renovation of a former pro-wrestling venue. Brew tanks are lined up where the ring used to be. Its brewing capacity is four times the Asakusabashi facility, and it can fill cans too.

Whoa! A pro-wrestling venue turned into a beer factory!? That's an incredible story...

At the Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station store, you can always enjoy 11 draft beers, with the selection changing daily, and their specialty is beef tongue grilled over binchotan charcoal. They also have beer can chicken and a full lineup of meat dishes that pair well with beer. Their motto is "Make craft beer more casual and fun," so it's very easy for beginners to step in.

Beef tongue and Nekopanchi... that's the best combination! I want to stop by on the way back from Shinjuku Gyoen!
