Uokin Brewing Stand was a shop on the first floor of Kanda Square, but it has actually been closed since December 2021.

Oh, so it’s closed now? That’s too bad... What kind of place was it?
Hop Bro
It was a standing-style spot centered around a 14-seat counter, the kind of place you could drop into quickly after work. They even had a tiny brewing setup inside, so small it was called a "micro-micro brewery," and they served six kinds of craft beer at all times.
Mugi
Micro-micro!? So there was a tiny brewery inside an office building.

Exactly. What was interesting here was the concept of beer that pairs with fish. The brown rice lager "Yui-yui-" used a special kind of brown rice, and its crisp flavor was perfect with sashimi. The fruity character of "Ran & Ran" and the balance of hop bitterness and roasted barley aroma in "Mugiame" were great too.
Mugi
Beer made with brown rice!? What is that? So they thought about it from the ingredients up to match fish?
Hop Bro
Exactly. Uokin is an izakaya that sources fish fresh from Toyosu every day, so the beers were designed with those fish dishes in mind. That’s why styles like lagers and pale ales, which have a clean finish, were common.

Open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and closed on weekends - it was really a place for salarymen.
Hop Bro
Right in the middle of Kanda’s office district, after all. It sounds like the kind of place people would stop by for a quick drink before a meeting. I’d be happy if they reopened.

If it comes back, I definitely want to go! I’m way too curious about the brown rice lager "Yui." I wonder if I can drink it at Uokin Brewing in Shibuya?
