Did you know? Uokin opened a big dining hall in Harumi Flag. And it even has brewing equipment, so they serve their own house-brewed beer.
Mugi
What? Uokin, the seafood izakaya? They make beer too!?
Hop Bro
Exactly. Uokin Group started in 1995 as a small 30-tsubo izakaya at the Karasumori exit in Shimbashi, and now it has more than 50 locations. The representative, Nobuyoshi Kanahara, began brewing in Shibuya Mark City in 2019, and that led to the expansion into Harumi as well.
Mugi
Wow! A restaurant chain making its own beer is quite a development.
Hop Bro
What you can drink here includes the hazy pale ale "Ran & Ran," the red IPA "Mugiame," the double IPA "Kakusei," and the saison "After Golf." "Ran & Ran" is fruity, easy to drink, and by far the most popular. "Mugiame" has a nice balance of roasted barley aroma and refreshing bitterness that pairs well with fish dishes.
Mugi
"After Golf" is such a great name (laughs). Since it's a saison, is it on the crisp side?
Hop Bro
Exactly. And the interesting thing about this Harumi Flag location is that it's in a town built on the former Olympic Village site. It opened in October 2024, and it runs as a two-part business: a donabe rice set-meal spot during the day and an izakaya at night.
Mugi
Set meals at lunchtime!? Even though it's a beer place, they serve meals too.
Hop Bro
Because they prepare fish in-house using seafood sourced daily from Toyosu Market. It supposedly has the feel of an inn's dining hall, with dishes like sashimi set meals and grilled salted mackerel set meals. At night, you can snack on oden and shumai made from the same ingredients while drinking craft beer. The place is spacious and stroller-friendly, so it's also popular with families raising kids in Harumi Flag.
Mugi
A neighborhood dining hall and craft brewery in a new town like that sounds so nice. I want to go!
