Have you heard of Soshigaya Beer Kobo? It's a brewery inside Odakyu Marche, right outside the ticket gates at Soshigaya-Okura Station on the Odakyu Line.
Mugi
What, a brewery in the station? That exists!?

What's more, it follows the lineage of the Beer Kobo group, started by Natsuoka Nomura in Koenji in 2010. He's a veteran brewer from Itabashi who has been making beer in Suginami and Nakano for over ten years. At the Soshigaya shop, he discussed the recipe many times with the manager to create a new one from scratch, aiming for a flavor that people in this neighborhood would want to drink.
Mugi
Wow, so they change the recipe for each neighborhood. That means it's beer made for that area, right?
Hop Bro
Exactly. The concept is "making beer for that town." They usually have about eight taps, and the lineup changes daily. Among them, the Weizen is especially well regarded for its perfect flavor balance and creamy texture.
Mugi
I love Weizen! I want to drink the creamy kind!

What's interesting is that they use a self-serve pouring style here. Customers pour the beer themselves from the taps. So they designed it from the brewing stage to ensure the taste doesn't vary depending on who pours it.
Mugi
What? Pouring it yourself sounds fun! But doesn't that require serious brewing skill?
Hop Bro
That's exactly where the professionals' craftsmanship shows. Half pints start at 500 yen, and you can also take beer home in a growler, so it's great for people who like drinking at home too. Since it's so close to the station, it's perfect for stopping by quickly on the way back from shopping.
Mugi
Being able to pick up freshly brewed beer right after leaving the station... that's the kind of place you'd keep going back to!
