Kyonan Beer

Kyonan Beer has a really unique origin. As part of efforts to revitalize the area, newcomers and local residents came together and, after carefully thinking it through, arrived at craft beer as something that could become a souvenir of Kyonan Town.

They established Kyonan Co., Ltd. in 2017 and started brewing in 2018. The brewery manager, Takahiro Okamura, is from Yokohama and moved to Kyonan Town in 2015. Together with the representative, Yoshinori Yasuda, it was started as a brewery where outsiders and local people joined forces.

What's more, the brewery is inside the Roadside Station Kyonan. It's a 5-minute drive from Kyonan Hota IC. Because it's both a brewery and a direct sales shop, you can buy freshly made beer right there. The brewing water is drawn from the underground water of Mount Nokogiri, and all the auxiliary ingredients are produced in Kyonan Town.

They have five kinds. "Kyonan Golden Ale" uses plenty of Koshihikari rice grown in Kyonan Town. "White Ale Narcissus" is named after the town flower, the narcissus, and "Tokyo Bay Porter" is named to reflect the town's view over Tokyo Bay. "Sunset English Bitter" also fits a town famous for its sunsets.

They also use lemons, summer oranges, and ginger from Kyonan Town, and in the 2025 Japan Great Beer Awards they won in three categories. Even as a small brewery, they're delivering real results.
