Hop BroAQUWA brew works is in Minami-Urawa, and the brewing space is only one tsubo. According to the head brewer, it's probably Japan's narrowest beer brewery.

Hop BroThey renovated a former table seating area and installed custom tanks that are long and narrow vertically. With 150-liter tanks, they can brew up to four types at once. They opened as a beer pub in 2020 and started brewing after obtaining a low-malt beer manufacturing license in 2022.

Hop BroTheir first brew was "RE:BORN," a West Coast IPA with 8% alcohol. The name itself suggests "rebirth," right? After that came "∞ (Mugen) Pale Ale" and the Bohemian pilsner "Chieko."

Hop BroBut the most impressive one is "Dolce VITA." It's an Imperial Red Ale at 9.5% ABV, made with red malt, cherries, cacao, almonds, and wood chips. This won the gold award in the freestyle category and the category championship at the International Beer Cup 2024.

Hop BroWhat's more, this beer has a backstory: it was brewed together by the head brewer and a regular customer who won the brewing right in a lottery for the shop's third anniversary. It's said to have an elegant flavor with a balance of lactic fermentation tartness and sweetness.
