Yo-Ho Brewing Begins Sales of Its Long-Aged Beer "Nemureru Shishishi 2026"
Yo-Ho Brewing in Saku, Nagano Prefecture, has started selling its long-aged beer, "Nemureru Shishishi 2026." Along with the full-bodied flavor that only a barley wine can deliver, the beer is notable for letting drinkers enjoy how it changes as it continues aging at home.
The "Nemureru Shishishi" series from Yo-Ho Brewing is a barley wine aged for a longer time than ordinary beer. By using more malt and putting extra care into the boiling and aging process, it is designed to bring out the sweetness of the grain, a deep richness, and complex aged aromas. The latest `Nemureru Shishishi 2026` has now gone on sale as a limited-edition release that carries on that tradition.
What makes this series interesting is that it is shipped after being fully matured in tanks, but the flavor and aroma can still be enjoyed as they change after purchase. While it is stored, the fruity notes become more layered and the sharp edges of the alcohol soften, giving it a rounder mouthfeel. Even though it is beer, it offers the pleasure of waiting, much like wine or whiskey.
Yo-Ho Brewing is a craft beer maker known for `Yona Yona Ale`, and it has broadened Japan's beer culture through distinctive beers. Based in Saku, Nagano Prefecture, the company has also consistently proposed limited-batch brews and unique styles, which is very much in keeping with its identity. `Nemureru Shishishi` is a series built on brewing know-how accumulated since 2001, and it has also earned recognition in international competitions. The 2026 version won bronze at the International Beer Cup 2025, further raising expectations for its flavor.
