Hop Japan, which operates Miyakoji Hop Garden Brewery, announced the release of "Sakura SAKELager 2026" in an Instagram post titled "Spring is just around the corner🌸". The post explicitly stated, "Sales begin on 3/20, Spring Equinox Day," and it will be offered as a limited seasonal brew for the spring season.

The core concept of this beer, as presented in the post, is a Japanese sake × craft beer hybrid. Its ingredients include "Fukunoka" sake rice from Ono Town, "Yae-zakura" from Date City, and the original sake yeast "Utsukushima Kirameki Yeast." By combining these with Hop Japan's fresh hops, the brewery says it has created a design that condenses the "taste of Fukushima's spring" into a single bottle.

As for sales channels, the post also pointed readers to the online shop and announced availability at directly operated stores. Sales begin on March 20 on draft and in bottles, and because it is a limited brew, early purchase is recommended. The two locations listed were Beer Restaurant Koriyama and Taproom Iwaki.

Looking at the brewery's background as well, the intent behind this product design becomes even clearer. According to Hop Japan's official website, on November 1, 2020, the company renovated the public facility "Green Park Miyakoji" in Tamura, Fukushima Prefecture, and opened "Hop Garden Brewery," which also handles hop cultivation. Because it has a system that connects cultivation and brewing within the region, a seasonal product that integrates Fukushima-derived elements such as sake rice, cherry blossoms, yeast, and fresh hops becomes possible.

As the time comes when people begin paying attention to the cherry blossom front, how far will this regionally sourced "spring limited" release spread? As a Fukushima-born seasonal beer, it looks set to be another release worth watching this year.
