Craft breweries from across Japan gather in Tsukuba

Miyakoji Hop Garden Brewery has announced its participation in Tsukuba Craft Beer Fest 2026, scheduled for October 16–18, 2026, at Tsukuba Center Square in Tsukuba, Ibaraki.

Founded in 2012, Tsukuba Craft Beer Fest is an outdoor beer festival organized and developed by a local volunteer committee. In 2026, approximately 40 breweries from around Japan are expected to take part, offering visitors the chance to explore more than 200 craft beers in one location.

Alongside the beer lineup, the festival will feature local food from Tsukuba and live performances. Visitors can compare beers from different regions, look for food pairings, and discover breweries they may not usually encounter in their local area.

The event also incorporates reusable serving options. Guests can purchase a reusable cup, buy the festival’s original glass, or bring their own favorite glassware. Tsukuba Center Square is about a three-minute walk from Tsukuba Station on the Tsukuba Express line.

A brewery rooted in locally grown hops

Based in Miyakoji, Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture, Miyakoji Hop Garden Brewery brews craft beer using hops grown in-house in Tamura. Its beers reflect an approach centered on connecting local agriculture with brewing and communicating the character of the region through beer.

At the festival, the brewery’s beers will be presented alongside selections from breweries across Japan, giving visitors an opportunity to experience the distinctive character of Tamura-grown hops. For beer lovers visiting Tsukuba this autumn, the event offers a chance to enjoy a broad range of styles while seeking out a glass from Fukushima’s Miyakoji area.
