A new pour in the Mt.Haven series

Yamanoma Brewery is a brewpub that brews and serves beer in Nagano City. Located just a few minutes on foot from JR Nagano Station, it is known for being easy to drop by between sightseeing or travel plans. At the taproom, guests can enjoy on-site brewed beer alongside dishes made with local Shinshu ingredients.

What the brewery shared on Instagram was the new beer in its Mt.Haven series, which has been on offer for about a month. Confirmed labels in the series include `Mount Haven Rice Weizen` and `Mt Haven Peach Wheat Ale`. The former is a Weizen brewed with rice, and drinkers' comments describe it as having a fruity quality from the rice, similar to sake. The latter is introduced as a wheat beer with peach notes, suggesting a design centered on gentle fruitiness.

The Mt.Haven series seems best understood as a line that broadens the flavor profile by layering in rice and fruit nuances rather than relying only on the contours of malt and hops. While rooted in Nagano, Yamanoma Brewery continues to release variations on these wheat-based beers. Even though it is a place where you can casually grab a drink near the station, its appeal also comes from the way it creates character through a combination of local ingredients and its own brewing.

Rather than a flashy new-product announcement, this is the kind of initiative that gradually takes shape through day-to-day service, which is precisely why it makes you want to compare the flavors side by side. If you're looking for craft beer in Nagano City, the Mt.Haven series looks like one worth trying at least once.
