A dry saison layered with fruit and oak

Shiga Kogen Beer, the brewery operated by Tamamura-Honten in Yamanouchi, Nagano, is offering barrel-aged Yamabushi blueberry red as the third product in its Harvest Festival 2026 lineup. The 500ml can is listed at ¥1,485 including tax.

The base is a dry saison brewed with Kinmon Nishiki rice. Employees hand-picked the brewery’s homegrown blueberries one by one, and the fruit was added before the beer was blended with barrel-aged red beer.

The blueberries contribute color, while the barrel-aged component adds tannic depth and a more vinous impression. With its dry saison structure, fruit character, and oak-derived complexity, the beer sits comfortably between farmhouse ale and fruit wine in its overall presentation.

Shiga Kogen Beer is known for brewing a broad range of beers in the Shiga Kogen area, including the Yamabushi series and barrel-aged releases. Its taproom offers an opportunity to explore those beers in the brewery’s home region.

This release should appeal to drinkers who enjoy dry saisons, tart fruit notes, tannins, and lingering barrel character.
