Inabiya begins serving a new yuzu and hibiscus beer made with yuzu from a nearby yard
The brewpub Inabiya Chiba Inage Beer Brewery in Inage Ward, Chiba City, has begun serving a new beer combining yuzu and hibiscus. Using yuzu that grew in a nearby garden, it has been finished into a glass that makes the most of its aroma and acidity.
At Inabiya Chiba Inage Beer Brewery in Inage Ward, Chiba City, a new beer combining yuzu and hibiscus has gone on sale. Continuing the combination they also brewed last year, the brewery is presenting it as a beer suited to the change of seasons.
The yuzu used this time was apparently grown in a garden and given to them by a nearby resident of Inabiya. Making use of familiar ingredients is also very much in keeping with this brewery. As the tartness of hibiscus is layered with the aroma of yuzu, the beer not only gains a brighter appearance but also tends to have a lighter mouthfeel. The post explains that although they had intended to make it more bitter this year than last, it did not actually become that strong and instead took on a cocktail-like flavor. It may feel a little unexpected on a chilly day, but it seems especially well suited to warm weather.
Inabiya is a brewpub on Sengen-dori Shopping Street between JR Inage Station and Keisei Inage Station, and it operates with the idea of "increasing opportunities to laugh together over handmade beer and making life in Inage a little more interesting." The overlap between its locally rooted operation and its seasonal beer-making is well reflected in this yuzu beer as well. Shop sales, local events, and a third-anniversary project are also planned for the future, and alongside the shop's activities, the fate of this beer is something to keep an eye on.
