Sakura Taps Opens Two New Beers from Barbaric Works and Nara Brewing
Yokohama beer pub Sakura Taps tapped two new beers on Wednesday, April 22. The lineup featured Barbaric Works' "The Spider Thread," brewed with foeder-derived acidity and woody character, and Nara Brewing's "LIGHTHOUSE," a lower-ABV beer that highlights the aroma of roasted malt.
At Sakura Taps in Yokohama, two new draft beers were tapped on Wednesday, April 22. The interior has a calm atmosphere, and the craft beer selection includes eight rotating taps each day. Hand-drip coffee is also available, making it a beer pub well suited to days when you want to slowly sip your glass.
This time's highlights are two beers with very different personalities.
- The Spider Thread / Barbaric Works
Brewed in a foeder in collaboration with Asuka Nisinaka, who is part of BET and also works as a phantom brewery operator. The aroma derived from wild yeast is layered with woody nuances, creating a youthful, fresh impression. In addition, a small blend of barrel-aged beer was added to balance the acidity and body.
- LIGHTHOUSE / Nara Brewing
A porter-themed beer inspired by the style born in 18th-century London, with the toasty aroma of roasted malt as its hallmark. Though it is a “micro” design with a lower ABV, using multiple roasted malts gives it layered aromas and variation within its bitterness. It is being recommended even for people who do not usually like dark beer.
Sakura Taps' signature is that it offers a solid range of beers while also letting guests spend time slowly with food and coffee included. These two beers were also introduced in a post as “perfect for a fresh, warm spring day.” Whether you want to enjoy foeder-derived acidity or prefer a roasted palate, this tapping makes you want to compare their different characters in a glass.
