Compare the same base by tasting the hop differences

At the beer pub Shimbashi DRY-DOCK in Shimbashi, two versions of Oni Densetsu Brewery's "Kin-Oni Pale Ale" are being tapped at the same time. The versions now on tap are the Mosaic Single Ver and the Krush Single Ver. Built on the same pale ale base, this is a pairing that lets you clearly enjoy the differences between the hops.

Mosaic is an American hop released in 2012. It is known for its deep, dank aroma and firm bitterness. Krush, on the other hand, is a newer hop formerly known as HBC586 and officially named in 2024. Its signature is said to be juicy, bursting flavor.

As the post says, "even though the base is the same, they taste completely different," making it easy to see the hop character come through in the aroma, the way the bitterness presents, and even the impression left at the end of the sip. By comparing them, you can feel both the depth that Mosaic brings to the Kin-Oni Pale Ale foundation and Krush's bright, fruity direction.

Shimbashi DRY-DOCK is a beer pub in Shimbashi where you can casually enjoy craft beer. It seems like a good fit for a side-by-side tap lineup like this, since it is the kind of place where you can take your time with limited guest beers. Since this time the focus is on the character of the hops, rather than drinking one cup at a time, you'll probably want to line them up and compare the differences.

At the end of the post, it also mentioned that next week's "Monday Miki" will feature kakiage-don. It is the kind of place where you can enjoy a very Shimbashi night, including the pairing of beer and food.
