Commemorative bread made with Shonan Beer "Schwarz" goes on sale at MOKICHI starting March 16
On the Instagram account of Kumazawa Brewery, which produces Shonan Beer, the third installment of a commemorative project marking the 10th anniversary of mokichi cafe and the 25th anniversary of mokichi baker & sweets was announced. The highlight is a new bread, "Beer Suisse," made with the brewery's homemade black beer "Schwarz" in the dough. Sales began on March 16.
For craft beer fans in the Shonan area, this topic is something you can enjoy not only by “drinking” beer, but also by “eating” it.
According to a post from Kumazawa Brewery (Shonan Beer), the commemorative product "Beer Suisse" uses homemade black beer "Schwarz" for 100% of the liquid in the dough. In addition, the cream inside is made with homemade malt, and the glossy finish on the surface is completed with wort syrup, making for ingredient design rooted in the brewery’s own products.
With a crisp dough layered with the subtle bitterness of dark beer and a fragrant cream, this looks like a refined, adult-oriented treat that is anything but overly sweet. Beer lovers will likely want to experience the character of "Schwarz" through the bread first, then follow it up by tasting the dark beer in a glass as well.
Official information on Shonan Beer also describes the brewery as one that values the "freshness" of unfiltered, unpasteurized beer. With the added background of a bakery and cafe run by the brewery itself, the appeal of this shop lies in how close food and beer are to each other. If you are in the brewery area in Kagawa, Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, be sure to enjoy the special limited feel that comes with this anniversary project.
