Release Details
Mountain River Brewery in Kugayama, Suginami Ward, Tokyo has released the spice ale "Headginger." The beer uses organically grown ginger from Shimomura Farm in Ohnomi, Nakatosa Town, Kochi Prefecture, with fresh young ginger thinly sliced and incorporated into fermentation.
The key change in this version is the addition of a small amount of Konaatsu, also from Kochi Prefecture. The bright citrus character layers onto the sharp aroma and spiciness derived from the ginger, giving the beer a lighter, fresher feel on the palate. It has an alcohol content of 4.5% and is classified as a spice ale.
The name Headginger is a coined word derived from Headwater, meaning the source of a river. It carries the idea of featuring Shimomura Farm, which farms in the headwaters area of the Shimanto River, and is positioned as a beer for ginger lovers.
Mountain River Brewery is a brewery located in Kugayama, Tokyo. This Headginger reflects both its locally rooted ingredient selection and its seasonal adjustments in flavor, leaving a stronger impression of careful design than of flashiness. It is finished in a way that will appeal not only to people who want to enjoy the outline of ginger, but also to those looking for a beer with citrus nuances.
