The "Fukushima City Azuma Mountain Foothills Welcome Event," which introduces the Azuma mountain foothills area in western Fukushima City, will be held in Shin-Okubo, Tokyo, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The venue is the K,D,C,,, coworking space on the fourth floor of the JR Shin-Okubo Station Building. The event will be held twice, once in the daytime and once in the evening, and will combine dishes made with Fukushima ingredients with tastings from five breweries on the Azuma mountain foothills Fukushakeido.

Participating breweries include Kinsuisho Shiki no Kura, as well as sake, doburoku, wine, and craft beer producers. Among them, Michinoku Fukushimaji Beer is being featured as one of the companies representing Fukushima's craft beer culture. According to the event page, the brewery plans to join the introduction segment online, allowing visitors to enjoy the flavors at the venue while also learning about the brewery's background.

According to Michinoku Fukushimaji Beer's official website, the company has been brewing for 28 years since founding its brewery at Anna Garden on the outskirts of Fukushima City. As a family-run craft brewery, it makes beer by hand, making use of European barley, natural spring water nurtured by snowmelt from the Azuma mountain range, and carefully selected yeast. It also stands out for its 23 tanks, which are rare even nationwide, and its brewing process is based on groundwater from the Azuma mountain range, Euro malt, Czech hops, and German yeast.

Its lineup is broad, ranging from pilsner based on German brewing methods to IPA, lager, and fruit beer. The brewery also officially promotes fruit beers made with Fukushima fruit, making it highly compatible with this event, which pairs local ingredients with alcohol. As a place to enjoy the unique character of the region across Fukushima's breweries, it is an event that beer fans will likely want to keep an eye on.

The event will include an introduction to the Azuma mountain foothills area, presentations and tastings of alcohol from the five breweries, an introduction to the day's dishes, pairing time, and an introduction to Fukushima DC. Admission is 2,200 yen, and each session is limited to 34 people by advance reservation only.
