At the beer pub Beer O'clock in Chuo Ward, Chiba City, Garyu Brewing's Session IPA "Afternoon Gold" has been newly tapped. With an alcohol content of 4.0%, it is a light, easy-drinking style, yet one that still delivers clear layers of fruit-derived aroma and hop character.

This beer uses "Hime Madonna" from Iyo City and yuzu from Ozu City. The fruit is frozen for aging, then cold-pressed and pasteurized at low temperature before being added, preserving its fresh citrus quality as it is. The hops are Amarillo, Azacca, Cascade, and Centennial, a four-hop blend. It combines the crispness typical of a Session IPA with refreshing acidity and layered aroma.

At Beer O'clock, the weekly pasta has also been updated to "Spaghetti with Polpettini and spring cabbage." It is a dish of polpettini made with Hayashi SPF pork from Hirano Yotojo in Kisarazu, paired with the richness of Pecorino cheese and the acidity of tomato, making it easy to imagine alongside this guest beer with its citrus notes. It is the kind of beer that suits a day when you want to enjoy craft beer slowly with a meal in the Chiba Station area.

The shop is a beer pub that also serves lunch, and its appeal lies in the relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to stop by. When a Session IPA like this, which pairs well with food, comes in, it adds another way to enjoy yourself when you want a change from your usual go-to pint.
