Yamorido, a brewpub at 108 Nakaaburakake-cho, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, has released its house beer, Gogo no Stout. The beer is an oatmeal coffee stout with 5.5% ABV and 19 IBU, designed to deliver a calm, dark-beer profile with a clear coffee expression.

The beer was made in collaboration with RUDIE, a coffee stand on the same Ryoma-dori shopping street. Yamorido used deep-roasted Mexican coffee beans roasted by RUDIE, and blended them with six carefully selected malts plus oats. The result is a rich, smooth mouthfeel with a balance of roasted malt aroma and coffee-like bitterness, aiming for a flavor reminiscent of adult espresso.

As a brewpub, Yamorido is a place where house-made beer and food can be enjoyed together. Gogo no Stout works as a closing beer, but it also makes sense with dessert. The recommended pairing is Chef Yoshida’s basque cheesecake. If you are looking for a dark beer to take your time with in Kyoto Fushimi, this is one to keep on your radar.
