Golden Rabbit Beer taps new "Hassaku Saison," made with pesticide-free hassaku from Nara Prefecture
Golden Rabbit Beer in Nara City tapped its new "Hassaku Saison" on draft, brewed with pesticide-free hassaku from Nara Prefecture. This is the first hassaku brew in two years, a beer that layers saison yeast spice with citrus bitterness. It will also be served in the taproom from April 3 through 5.
Nara City’s Golden Rabbit Beer has announced the draft tapping of its new release, Hassaku Saison. On its official website, the brewery presents it as a beer that makes use of local ingredients, based on its stance of creating craft beer that highlights Nara’s ingredients.
For this brew, pesticide-free hassaku from Nara Prefecture was used. According to the brewery, the recipe is designed to blend the gentle bitterness and acidity of hassaku with the spicy nuances derived from saison yeast, resulting in an easy-drinking beer with a soft citrus aroma. Products made with hassaku are said to be appearing for the first time in two years, so it is likely to draw attention not only for its seasonal feel but also as a long-awaited return.
The beer will be available on draft only. The taproom will be open on the weekend from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, making the tasting times clearly available for visitors.
The weekend ON TAP lineup released at the same time also featured a range of distinctive beers, including "Soramitsu," "Aoniyoshi," "Chihayafuru," "Hinohikari," "Plums, 10 Years," "Aka no Kihen," "Sakura Ale," and "Kurobara Saki-gake." Among them, Hassaku Saison looks set to be a notable new addition for anyone wanting to check how Nara ingredients pair with the saison style.
