Golden Rabbit Beer Opens Shijonawate Brewery in Osaka
Nara-based Golden Rabbit Beer has opened a new brewing site, Golden Rabbit Beer Shijonawate Brewery, in Shijonawate, Osaka. The brewery is set to showcase beers made with local ingredients, including Shijonawate-grown rice and grapes, while offering visitors a close look at the brewing environment.
Golden Rabbit Beer, a craft brewery based in Nara City, has opened Golden Rabbit Beer Shijonawate Brewery at 45-1 Nakano, Shijonawate, Osaka. The new brewery opened on October 17, 2026, and is located approximately a six-minute walk from Shinobugaoka Station.
The brewery’s lineup includes Nawate Weizen, a wheat beer, as well as beers made with locally grown ingredients such as Hinohikari rice and Muscat Bailey A grapes from Shijonawate. By incorporating agricultural products from the area, the brewery offers a way to experience the character of Shijonawate through craft beer.
The labels for the three beers were illustrated by Tomonori Taniguchi, a picture-book artist from Shijonawate. The artwork adds another connection to the community, while the brewing equipment inside the venue gives visitors a chance to experience the atmosphere of a working brewery.
Golden Rabbit Beer was founded to bring attention to Nara, a region closely associated with the origins of Japanese sake, through locally inspired craft beer. Its main brewery and taproom are located in Naramachi, Nara City, where the brewery focuses on using Nara ingredients and enjoying beer alongside music. The Shijonawate location expands that approach into Osaka, with a focus on the flavors and stories of its new home.
Opening days and hours may vary, so visitors should check the brewery’s official Instagram before making a trip. For beer lovers exploring the area, the new brewery offers an opportunity to enjoy fresh beer while discovering the local ingredients of Shijonawate.
