Ryusendo Wakka, a brewery and taproom in Iwaizumi, Iwate, will pre-release its summer seasonal craft beer, “Hoshimeguri,” on July 7, Tanabata. The announcement was made on the brewery’s official Instagram account, which says the beer will be served as draft beer at the in-house cafe.

According to the post, “Hoshimeguri” uses an improved beer yeast developed from “Giovanni no Shirabe,” an original ginjo sake yeast from Iwate. The beer is described as an ale with a fruity ginjo-like aroma and a light, refreshing finish suited to summer.

The name “Hoshimeguri” evokes a journey through the summer night sky. The brewery also connects the beer to Kenji Miyazawa’s Night on the Galactic Railroad, noting the association between Giovanni and Campanella and the Tanabata pair of Hikoboshi and Orihime.

Ryusendo Wakka is a facility that combines a taproom, shop, and brewery, using Ryusendo spring water and local ingredients. Its official website says it produces craft beer with Ryusendo water and locally sourced ingredients, and offers house beer and light food on site. “Hoshimeguri” fits that local approach, linking seasonal timing, literary imagery, and regional brewing.
