Isana Brewing Announces Nitro Version of Kuyte Ale, Limited Release in Akishima
Isana Brewing in Akishima, Tokyo announced a new release on Instagram on March 19: "Isana Kuyte Ale Nitro ver. (high-pressure pure nitrogen)." The style is listed as "Duch Style Kuyte Ale," with Alc. 5% and IBU 28. Its creamy mouthfeel, delivered through high-pressure pure nitrogen service, is the defining feature, and availability will be focused mainly on-site.
The new release from Isana Brewing (Akishima, Tokyo) is a glass served in a nitro format based on the historical-style "Isana Kuyte Ale." In the post, it was introduced as "Isana Kuyte Ale Nitro ver. (high-pressure pure nitrogen)," with the specs clearly listed as Alc. 5% / IBU 28.
The appeal of the nitro pour is the cascading effect that appears the moment it is served, along with the fine texture of the foam. The caption also explained that while the beer starts out light and airy as the foam circulates, it becomes pleasantly chewy and creamy as it settles. Because it is served using high-pressure gas, wide distribution is difficult, and the post emphasizes that "the only place you can drink the Nitro ver. is Isana," highlighting it as a local, on-site experience.
The base beer, "Isana Kuyte Ale," is itself a historical design inspired by kuyte ale that was drunk in the Netherlands around 1400 to 1550. According to the post, the recipe combines about 50% oats and wheat with ale malt, aiming for a gentle grain-derived flavor and a restrained hop aroma.
On the brewery's official website, Isana Brewing says it has operated a "brewery & roastery" in Akishima since May 2018 and works as a Factory & Laboratory under the motto "Make everyone smile with bitter drinks." For the company, which continues brewing research using deep underground water, this nitro version seems to be a new proposal that shows how the same label can take on a different expression through serving technique.
