YUDANAKA BREWERY COMPLEX U, based in Yamanouchi, Nagano, has introduced a summer-limited beer called TROPICAL KINMON RICE LAGER. As a brewery connected to a broader hospitality space, it continues to pair beer with food and time spent on site, and this release is clearly aimed at warm-weather drinking.
The new beer follows last summer's and the summer before's well-received TROPICAL HOPPY LAGER. This time, the brewery has turned to a West Coast Pilsner made with Kinmon Nishiki, a rare rice variety often described as a "phantom" sake rice. The beer is said to balance vivid hop aroma, refreshing bitterness, light lager character, and a dry, clean finish. Its naturally hazy appearance adds to the tropical impression.
The beer comes in at 5.0% ABV and 330 ml. On the restaurant side, it is served for 790 yen as a medium and 980 yen as a large, while bottled retail sales are available in limited quantities for 680 yen. With a six-month shelf life from bottling and limited production, it will be available only until stock runs out.
For summer in Yamanouchi, this is a beer that combines local ingredients with a hop-forward profile. It should appeal to drinkers looking for something crisp, aromatic, and easy to reach for in the heat.
