At VANAVASA in Onari-cho, Kamakura, a post introducing guest brewery CAMOSI BREWING from Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture has been published. The Instagram announcement features two beers: West Coast Pale Ale 6.0% and Saison 6.5%.

West Coast Pale Ale is a beer for those who want to enjoy hop aroma and a crisp drinking finish. Built around citrus and green aromas with a well-balanced bitterness, it is known as a style whose outline becomes easier to grasp the more you keep drinking. By contrast, Saison is appealing for its light fermentation-driven aroma and dry finish, and its character tends to change as the temperature rises.

VANAVASA is a beer pub in the Kamakura Station area, and its easy-to-stop-by location makes it appealing for a quick visit while walking around town. It is a convenient place to compare guest beers on draft between sightseeing stops, and this time it forms a very guest-beer-like pairing, connecting a brewery from Itoshima with a counter in Kamakura.

Because the two beers have clearly different directions, it may be nice to start with the West Coast Pale Ale to get a feel for the hop profile, then move on to the Saison to check its fermentation character and dryness. Being able to drink while comparing each brand's individuality is one of the pleasures unique to guest beers.
