And Beer, the brewpub in Koenji North (4-2-2 Koenji Kita, Suginami-ku, Tokyo), tapped Ume Weizen on Wednesday, April 8. In its post, the shop described this week as "Ume Food Week" and said it would prepare a variety of plum-based snacks.

This beer is a Weizen made with super-ripe Kishu Nanko ume from Ume Boys. The banana-like aroma from the Weizen yeast is layered with the fruitiness of plum, and the flavor changes as the temperature rises. It is the kind of beer you want to sip slowly and notice how its aroma and acidity shift.

Food offerings start with tonight's biryani paired with beef small intestine and long green onion, and curries beginning with plum chicken and mustard shrimp. In addition, the lineup includes bitter melon dressed with plum, plum and chicken tender spring rolls with pickled mustard greens, fried chicken with plum vinegar, mini gratin with oysters and grilled scallions, and la zi ji, among others that go well with beer. Centered on the scent of plum, the menu is designed so guests can enjoy its compatibility with food.

The shop is open continuously from 11:30 to 22:00, and beer takeaway is available from 10:00. The terrace seating welcomes dogs and cats, and curry, snacks, and soft drinks are also available to go. In addition, from Wednesday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 14, a WEEKLY promotional sale will be held at Isetan Shinjuku's "Isetan Craft Beer Bar." Representative Ando is scheduled to be on site on Thursday, April 9, Friday, April 10, and Sunday, April 12, so it looks set to be a week where Ume Weizen can be followed at both the Koenji shop and the Shinjuku event.
